42nd Antibiotic Testing Course

This course is designed for all laboratory personnel involved in antibiotic assays and/or susceptibility testing. The course comprises lectures, demonstrations and practical work. The topics covered will include:
Susceptibility tesing
Disc testing: BSAC (UK) / CLSI / EUCAST
MIC testing / MIC gradient strips / Sensititre / broth dilution / agar dilution.
MIC / MBC, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics,
Detection of specific resistance mechanisms e.g. ESBLs / AmpC / GISA / GRSA / VRE
Antimicrobial Assays
Immunoassays, HPLC
Clinical aspects of therapeutic monitoring
Quality assurance / control / assessment / validation
Antibiotic prescribing/guidelines/usage
The course venue is the University of the West of England, Bristol.
Fee: £675 (includes all coursework, meals and accommodation).
